On the night of 10 July 2025, a dramatic street altercation broke out in front of a condominium in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, Malaysia, which quickly went viral after video footage captured an amateur MMA fighter knocking out a security guard. The footage, posted online on 15 July 2025, spread across various social media platforms, showing the intense confrontation between the two individuals.

The incident involved 22-year-old amateur MMA featherweight fighter Tony Lim, who was approached and provoked by a man identified as the head security guard of the condominium. Dressed in black, the guard could be seen in the video aggressively confronting Lim, who was wearing a red singlet. The guard repeatedly taunted Lim with words like, “Punch me! Are you a boy or a girl?” and used derogatory slurs such as “pondan”, clearly trying to instigate a physical response.

Despite the relentless provocation, Lim remained composed. A woman believed to be Lim’s girlfriend was also present, trying to calm the situation and defuse the tension. According to Lim, the confrontation stemmed from an earlier incident where the same security guard had allegedly assaulted another resident at the same condominium. The guard apparently believed that Lim was the one who recorded and circulated that earlier video.

On 10 July, as Lim was collecting a parcel at the condominium, the guard singled him out and accused him of being behind the viral footage. Lim denied the accusation and attempted to clarify the misunderstanding. However, the situation escalated when the guard challenged him to “settle outside.”

Lim later explained that he had no intention of engaging in a fight and only wanted to de-escalate the situation. Nonetheless, the guard continued provoking him. As the tension boiled over, Lim eventually took down the guard using a grappling technique, mounted him, and attempted to restrain him. During this, he was heard asking nearby security personnel to call the police, but was instead instructed to let the guard go.

Once Lim released the guard, the man in black aggressively charged at him again. In response, Lim delivered a clean right-hand punch that knocked the guard backward into a metal pole with a loud impact, effectively ending the altercation.

Following the incident, Lim stated that he acted purely in self-defence. He reiterated that he did not instigate the fight and had even asked other security personnel to help manage the situation. His girlfriend was present during the entire episode, which also influenced his decision not to flee.

After the physical exchange, both Lim and the guard proceeded to a police station, where they reportedly reached an amicable settlement. They shook hands and agreed to delete the video to avoid further escalation. However, by that point, the video had already gone viral across multiple platforms.

Lim later took to social media to clarify his side of the story. He urged viewers not to send hate or mock the security guard, pointing out that the situation had already been resolved. He also confirmed that the security guard is no longer part of the condominium’s security team.

The case stands as a cautionary tale about the consequences of provocation and the importance of self-control. While Lim was trained in combat, he maintained throughout that street fighting is never advisable unless it is a matter of personal safety. His message was clear: defending oneself is a last resort, not a first move.
